 | 09:51 pm I don't have any ill feelings toward 2009 and I'm not particularly involved one way or another in wanting it to go or wanting it to stay. I like the idea of 365 brand-new days (well, 361 now) to make changes, establish better habits, and continue successes.
In 2010 I want to drink more water; stop picking the polish off my nails less than three hours after I paint them; run and keep running until I can't feel my shin splints anymore; bake the best damn pies anyone has ever eaten; maintain relationships instead of letting them fade away (instead of neglecting them); drink more champagne for no reason other than the things I do and the things my friends do are worth celebrating on a regular basis; save instead of spend; floss twice a day; move to DC with minimal panic and few crises; go to bed early enough that I can wake up without hitting the snooze button on my alarm, like, four times (and also so that I can make breakfast); listen to more records; spend more time at the Smithsonian; write a thesis that isn't just a stellar body of work, but also shows how I feel for where people live and how I feel for why it's so important; and I want to keep kissing—not just you, but everything that has come alive in recent months and made me so excited to wake up and keep going throughout the days, weeks.
